The System
ArcLED Downlight Configurator
The ArcLED downlight configurator delivers a complete, ready-to-install LED downlight kit in minutes. Choose your fire-rated fixture, pair it with a tru-colour LED module or a replaceable GU10 lamp, and add a TRIAC, DALI or 0-10V Osram driver to match your dimming protocol — all sourced from a single UK supplier with one click to basket.
Every fixture in the catalogue is fire-rated to BS 476 (30, 60 or 90 minutes), CE and UKCA certified, and supplied with a 5-year warranty. IP65 models are rated for bathroom zones 1, 2 and 3. The configurator only shows fixture, module and driver combinations that are genuinely compatible, so the kit you build will work straight out of the box.
Two ranges are available. The Plaster-In trimless range is favoured by architects and interior designers for its bezel-free, flush ceiling finish — only the beam aperture is visible once installed. The Open-Back range offers a more accessible price point with a slim aluminium or steel bezel and identical fire and IP ratings.
Whether you are specifying a single bathroom retrofit, a kitchen refurbishment or a 200-unit hotel project, the configurator builds the right kit, calculates accurate quantities for dual-head fixtures, and adds the lot straight to your basket. Trade pricing appears automatically when you are logged into your ArcLED account.
DALI, TRIAC & 0-10V LED Module Downlights
The DALI LED module downlight kit is built for commercial installs, smart-building integration and zoned residential schemes. Pair any tru-colour LED module with the Osram IT DALI 12 driver (DALI-2 certified) for 1–100% flicker-free dimming over a digital bus. Each fixture becomes an individually addressable luminaire, ideal for hotels, offices, restaurants and high-end homes.
The TRIAC dimmable LED module downlight is the most common protocol for UK homes. It works with any leading-edge or trailing-edge phase-cut wall dimmer — the kind most homes already have. Choose the Osram OT FIT 8 (180mA) driver for standard modules, or OT FIT 14 (250mA) for the high-output X3L 11W.
The 0-10V dimmable LED module downlight uses a separate analogue control wire, giving 1–100% dimming with dim-to-off and rock-steady performance over long cable runs. The Osram IT DIM 12 driver accepts a standard 0–10V signal from any compatible wall plate or BMS — best for offices, retail and any BMS-integrated install.
All three driver families pair with every tru-colour module in the catalogue. The configurator handles the matching automatically, so you only need to pick the dimming protocol your project requires — the right Osram SKU is selected for you.
IP65 Fire-Rated Bathroom Downlights
IP65 fire-rated downlights are required in bathroom Zone 1, the area directly above the bath or shower up to 2.25m, and recommended throughout the bathroom for consistency. All our IP65 fixtures carry 30 / 60 / 90-minute fire ratings under BS 476 Part 21, satisfying Building Regulations Approved Document B for residential and most commercial installs.
Available in both Plaster-In trimless and Open-Back ranges, with baffled, fluted or anti-glare bezel options. Pick a fixture, add a GU10 lamp or tru-colour module, choose your driver and the kit is complete — supplied as a single delivery.
IP20 fire-rated downlights are suitable for dry interior spaces — living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and stairwells. Typically £2–£5 cheaper per unit than equivalent IP65, they share the same fire rating and 5-year warranty.
All ArcLED fire-rated downlights are tested for use with insulation in contact with the back of the fitting (no minimum clearance required), so they can be safely installed in insulated lofts and party-wall ceilings without compromising the thermal envelope.
Plaster-In Trimless & Open-Back Ranges
The Plaster-In trimless downlight is the cleanest aesthetic available. The fixture has no visible bezel, so once the ceiling is skimmed and painted around it, only the beam aperture is visible. Available in round (Ø78–80mm cut-out) and square (78×78mm) profiles, fixed or tiltable, IP20 or IP65, with Sand White or Matt Black baffle finishes.
Plaster-In fixtures are favoured by architects, interior designers and high-end residential developers for the seamless ceiling integration. The fixture installs before the plasterer’s second coat, leaving the cleanest possible finish with zero visible hardware.
The Open-Back fire-rated GU10 downlight is the economical sister-range. A slim aluminium or steel bezel (Ø75–88mm round or square equivalent) sits flush with the painted ceiling. Cut-out is 65–80mm. Same fire and IP ratings, same 5-year warranty — just a different bezel aesthetic and lower price point.
Choose from baffled (reduced glare), fluted (decorative ribbed bezel), anti-glare (deep baffle with no visible LED) or tiltable variants. Dual-head versions are available for hallways, stairwells and gallery walls — the configurator automatically doubles the lamp and driver quantities for dual fixtures.
CRI 97+ tru-colour LED Modules
Colour Rendering Index (CRI) measures how accurately a light source reproduces colour compared to natural daylight. CRI 97+ approaches the upper limit of what is commercially available — skin tones look healthy, food looks appetising, fabric and artwork are rendered as the designer intended. Cheap LED downlights at CRI 80 leave rooms feeling sterile and washed out.
The tru-colour module range — X1L MR11, X2L 9W, X3L 11W and 22-9W — is the only LED module family in the ArcLED catalogue rated CRI 97+. It is recommended for any room where people gather, eat, dress or work.
Each module is available in 2700K (warm white — bedrooms and living rooms), 3000K (neutral-warm — the most popular for kitchens and bathrooms) and 4000K (cool white — utility rooms, garages and offices). The configurator lets you switch CCT instantly to see the kit total update.
For ceilings over 2.7m or rooms over 25m², step up to the X3L 11W module for 1,100 lumens of high-output light without compromising the colour quality. The X1L MR11 module is the only fit for our smallest Ø60mm cut-out mini downlight.
Dual-Head, Mini & Anti-Glare Variants
The dual-head GU10 downlight pairs two adjustable heads in a single recessed fixture — ideal for hallways, stairwells, alcoves and gallery walls. Available IP20 fire-rated (166×88mm bezel, 158×80mm cut-out) or IP65 (170×90mm bezel, 155×80mm cut-out). The configurator automatically doubles the lamp and driver quantities so you cannot accidentally under-order.
The MR11 GU10 mini downlight is for lower ceilings, shallow voids or compact retrofits. With a Ø60mm cut-out (vs the standard Ø68–80mm) it fits where larger housings cannot. Accepts the tru-colour X1L MR11 module for 788 lumens at CRI 97+, dimmable via any of our three Osram driver options.
Anti-glare downlights use a deep black baffle to recess the lamp 38–41mm into the fixture, eliminating direct glare at sitting eye-level. Available IP65 (round Ø78mm or square 75×75mm) for bathrooms and IP20 (Ø88mm or 88×88mm) for living spaces.
The tiltable variants (ARC-GU10AG-TILT round and ARC-GU10AGS-TILT square) tilt up to 30° from vertical for accent and task lighting. Add a 15° narrow-spot or 60° wide-flood beam lens to the X1L MR11 module to fine-tune the beam to your project.
How Many Downlights Do I Need?
A common rule of thumb is one 9W downlight per 1.5m² of floor area at a standard 2.4m ceiling height. A 12m² bedroom typically needs around 8 fixtures in a 2×4 grid; a 20m² living room needs 12–14. For task areas like kitchen worktops and bathroom mirrors, add extra fixtures directly above the task surface.
For higher ceilings (over 2.7m) or rooms over 25m², step up to the 11W X3L module to maintain lux levels at floor height without increasing fixture count. For art or accent lighting, use the tiltable variants and aim them at the feature you want to highlight.
