We injection mould both ends of your in-ground Neon Flex in our Plymouth workshop, so there’s nothing left to seal on site and no weak spot for water to find.
When we get asked how to install LED lighting into driveways, decking or pool surrounds, the first thing we explain is that standard LED tape isn’t suitable. Even IP67 neon isn’t designed to live in the ground on its own, and the weak point is always the same: the cut ends and the cable entry.
In this guide we explain why injection moulding matters, how it works, and how to add it to your order.
Why in-ground neon needs extra protection
Our Neon Flex is built for outdoor use, but once it’s set into concrete, paving or decking it sits in constant moisture, grit and pressure.
Without proper sealing
- Water or condensation gets in through the connection points, causing corrosion and failure
- Dirt, grit and chemicals such as chlorine or salt degrade the LEDs and internal components
- Foot traffic and vehicle loads put pressure on the connections
What is injection moulding?
Neon in the ground sits in constant moisture, and the cut ends are where standard seals fail. So once your neon is cut to length, we place a mould around the feed end and end cap and inject a high-strength, UV-stable resin under pressure.
It fills every gap and sets solid, bonding to the neon and the cable to leave one seamless seal.

One solid seal. No gaps for water.
Moulding vs glue-on caps
Glue-on caps & silicone
Leave joins water can creep through, rely on fitting skill on site, and can break down in wet ground. Bulky caps also leave an untidy finish.
Injection moulded
One seamless, gap-free seal, made and tested before it ships. The solid resin adds strength and leaves a clean, professional finish.
Cable entry options
We mould the feed in the position that suits your install.
End entry
The cable leaves straight out of the end of the run.
Bottom entry
The cable drops out underneath the end, ideal when the feed comes up through the ground.
Centre feed
Two runs joined by one moulded collar, with the cable dropping out underneath.
Where you need it
Ideal for
- Pool surrounds
- Decking
- Patios
- Driveways
- Pathways
- Gardens
- Water features
For driveways and other vehicle areas, pair it with a heavy-duty profile. In these areas, injection moulding is also required for your warranty to apply.
How to order
01 · Choose your neon
Pick your in-ground neon and the lengths you need.
02 · Add moulding
Add injection moulding to your basket alongside your neon.
03 · Sealed & tested
We mould and test it in-house, then dispatch within 4–5 working days.
FAQs
Why can’t I seal it with silicone myself?
DIY sealing tends to fail under pressure and long-term exposure. Injection moulding creates a permanent, industrial-grade seal that’s built to last.
Can I cut the neon after it’s moulded?
No. Cutting breaks the seal. We cut and mould your neon to your exact lengths, so measure carefully before you order.
Is moulded neon still flexible?
Yes. Only the moulded ends are rigid. The rest of the run stays fully flexible.
Does it work with RGB and RGBW neon?
Yes. Moulding works across all our Neon Flex types. RGBW often suits an end-entry feed for best reliability.
How long does it take?
4–5 working days for moulding, plus your chosen delivery time.
