What is a profile LED light?

A profile LED light is an LED light that is housed inside an LED profile. LED profiles are designed to protect your LED strip lights and can also reduce spotting from your LEDs. The profile conceals your LED lights, allowing you to blend your lighting in seamlessly with your room. This seamless way of installing LED lights offers a minimalistic and timeless aesthetic. LED profiles are sometimes called extrusions and are usually made from aluminium.

We have a variety of sizes available to help you complete your project, such as:

  • LED aluminium profile 2m
  • LED aluminium profile 3m
  • LED aluminium profile 5m

With a range of sizes to choose from, you will be able to find the perfect LED profiles for the job. Don’t forget, at ArcLED, we offer a made to measure service so you can get your LED lights to the specifications of your project. This bespoke service means that your unusual spaces can have perfect lighting. There’s no space too big or small for LEDs.

What are the benefits of profile lights?

There are several benefits to installing profile lights in your space. Let’s look at the benefits of switching to LEDs and why you should use a profile to install your lights.

Benefits of LED lights:

  • Low Cost – LED lights are cheap to run as they don’t require much power to create excellent illumination.
  • Energy Efficiency – LED lights are much more energy efficient than traditional bulbs.
  • Long Lasting – LED lights are designed to have a long life. No need to replace your LEDs regularly; as long as they are correctly installed, they will provide many hours of light.

Benefits of LED profiles:

  • Even and Consistent Lighting – Placing your LED strip inside an LED profile has the effect of distributing the light to create even and consistent natural light while reducing glare.
  • Soft Ambient Lighting – LED profiles reduce spotting from individual LED lights, therefore creating a soft and ambient lighting effect. Results will vary depending on the warmth of the white you have chosen, but the profile will soften any of these tones.
  • Aesthetically Pleasing Even When Turned Off – The neat and timeless aesthetic of LED profiles ensures your lights effortlessly blend into the room, whether they are on or off. For example, LED profiles for ceiling will blend in with your ceiling to provide beautiful lighting to your room while creating a satisfying sleek design of your choice, such as a rectangle.
  • Protects Your LEDs from Debris and Dust – LED profiles protect your LED lights from dust and debris, ensuring they stay safe and can be used for their full lifespan.
  • Protects Your LEDs From Splashes and Spills – While there is a limit to how much liquid an LED should be exposed to, the profiles will help protect from small spills in areas such as kitchens. Make sure to check the specifications of your product if you are looking for fully waterproof options for outdoor use and bathrooms.
  • Heat Dissipation – LED profiles will help to draw the heat away from your LEDs by acting as heat sinks. Despite their energy-efficient rating, LEDs do produce heat. By preventing the lights from overheating, you will help to extend their life.

Is a LED profile waterproof?

If you specifically choose a waterproof product, you will also want a waterproof LED profile. Usually, LED products are categorised into 3 ratings. Non-waterproof products should only be used in rooms such as dining rooms, living rooms, and entertainment rooms. Water-resistant products can be used in areas where they may get splashed, such as kitchens. Fully waterproof products can be used outside.

To complete your LED project, there are a few more products you will need besides your LED profile. To use your LED mounting profile, you will need LED clips. These are small clips that attach to the LED profile and then screw into the ceiling or the wall. The LED clips for lights will hold your LED profiles securely in place. Our LED strip mounting clips are available in a range of sizes, materials and designs so you can get the aesthetic you would like.

To complete your project and add a finishing touch to the aesthetic, you will need LED end caps. Not only do they complete the look of an LED profile, but they also prevent dust and debris from getting into the LED profiles and onto the LED lights. To completely seal in your LED profiles, you can get End Caps and Silicone for a professional finish that seals away your LED lights for ultimate protection.

With everything you need in one place at ArcLED, you can bring your projects to life with our LED profile products and accessories. With our fast delivery service, you can get your project started in no time, whether it is for your home or business space.
