It’s easy to see why plaster-in LED strip lighting is taking over the market right now. With an unbeatable flush finish, the aesthetic of plaster in LED profiles is timeless and cohesive. Here at ArcLED, we are finding this style of lighting is fast becoming the most popular choice for home and business owners, particularly in the UK.  Plaster in LED profiles provide a completely unique and modern finish in all projects, domestic or commercial. They can be integrated into any plasterboard and allow you to control the way you light your home fully.
What is a plaster-in LED aluminium profile?

Plaster-in LED profiles are designed to fit in seamlessly with plasterboard. The LED strip lights sit flush against your finished wall in an aluminium profile. Due to the nature of plaster in LED lights, you will need to plan your project before you finish plastering your room. This makes plaster-in LEDs unique, as most LED lights are added later in the decorating process. Plan your project carefully and enjoy the reward of a smooth and subtle LED light that will never go out of fashion.

Why choose plaster-in LED profiles?

Plaster-in LED profiles sit flush to your walls or ceiling, which means there is no visible hardware and cables, allowing you to create natural lighting in your room. This minimalist aesthetic is timeless and allows you to pair any type of decor with your lighting. The low maintenance and low cost of LED lights are paired with fantastic and even light output. The versatile colour options allow you to create the perfect light level for your space. For example, you can use a cool or natural white for workspaces and a warm white for relaxing. Some LED strips come with colour changing functions or dimmable functions for ultimate versatility.

Over the years, we have worked with a number of clients to create stunning feature lighting within a room using RGBWSingle colour and CCT controlled LED strip lights – here is just a small selection of our favourites.

Kitchen Halo Project: Single Colour Dimmable LEDs

Our customer came to us with a vision of creating a halo style of light above his kitchen island to provide full light coverage of the worktop surface and also a feature light to draw the attention of guests.
After discussing with our customer, we supplied our ArcLED 2 and 3-metre plaster-in profiles. The installers mitred each end with a 45-degree angle to create both rectangles for the halo effect. We also recommended using our 24V Single Colour 9.6W IP65 tape to reduce spotting. It works by evenly distributing the light to give a natural and consistent level of illumination. Once measurements had been decided, we joined each length of tape with a small 50mm cable to go around the corners and avoid loss of light on the right angles. We also supplied our customer with dimmable drivers to allow simple control of the lighting via a decorative dimmer switch on the wall. Dimmable lights are a great option for effortlessly creating different moods. Dim the lights for a cosy atmosphere and turn up the brightness for more intricate meal prep.If you want to create a similar project, you will need:

Our team of experts at ArcLED will be happy to guide you through the products you will need for your project. We’re known for our excellent customer care. We always recommend getting a professional to install your LED lighting to make sure it is safe and complies with the terms of the warranty.

For the kitchen halo project, a single colour LED strip perfectly suited the customer’s lighting needs, but you may prefer a colour changing LED strip. In our next project, we were able to provide the customer with the colour changing mood lighting of their dreams.

Velux Window Project: RGBW Colour Changing Strip Lights

The result of this loft conversion lighting using our plaster-in profile is very satisfying; we love this one! In their new loft conversion, our client wanted to highlight the Velux windows and wanted to use RGBW strips for colour changing mood lighting. After discussing all the options, we decided that the slim LED plaster in profiles were the best match for the job, along with opal diffusers to soften light output and reduce spotting. Again, corners were mitred at 45 degrees to give a perfect 90-degree angle going around each corner of the windows. In this case, we supplied our client with the tape, cut and soldered to bespoke lengths to allow for swift and simple installation. All it needed was a finishing touch to connect the colour changing controller, driver and mains.
Once the customer was happy with the flush finish and overall appearance of the Velux windows, we also decided to use Levello plaster-in downlights. Levello is a British manufacturer based near London with over 100 years’ experience in the lighting industry. Their revolutionary invisible lighting creation is fast taking over the market and is used prominently in high-end homes, restaurants and shops. Completing the room with a flush finish on all lighting really adds value to this home and we think you’ll agree the finished look is stunning!
Due to the energy-efficiency rating of LED lights and the longevity they offer, they are becoming a popular choice in homes. The low cost of the lighting is appealing, as is the low maintenance. Lighting is no longer just functional, it can be used as a decorative feature too.

Contemporary Staircase Lighting: Modern LED Strip Lights

Our final pick is something a little different. Again, we used our popular ArcLED wide plaster in LED profile, complete with opal diffusers, to create abstract and modern lighting on this client’s staircase. The customer came to us with a vision, and after discussing many options, we came up with this! We decided to go with 7 different lengths of strip and stagger them at levels going up the stairs to achieve this modern feature lighting. Using an 18W spotless LED strip, we were able to give the customer a completely spot-free strip of light on all lengths. We hooked them up to a dimmable driver to allow dimming of the lights during the night to allow guidance up and down the stairs.
For this project, our customer used our made to measure service. Many of our LED strips can be cut to precise measurements in order to give you a bespoke product for your space. If you have had a spark of inspiration and want to get your project started, talk to our team to help bring your idea to life. We know our products in great detail so we can provide plenty of advice.
